Dear Board Members,

 

Bruce and I would like to inform you of an exciting event that took place this past week.  CEC was invited to the White House to meet with the President's Special Assistant for Disability and OSERS Asst Secretary and the Director of OSEP to discuss some of the pressing issues facing special education.  Two Board members, Donna and Matty, were part of the delegation as was I.

This was a very special invitation and a testimony to the hard work, reputation and respect that the Policy and Advocacy staff have...as well as CEC's prominence.

CEC Joins White House Dialogue on Education of Students with Disabilities
A group of CEC members met Feb. 22 at the White House with leaders from the White House Domestic Policy Council and the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) to discuss President Obama's State of the Union Address and his Fiscal Year 2013 budget initiatives as they relate to children and youth with disabilities and their families.

CEC's White House Dialogue on Special Education Issues

Join CEC for a White House Dialogue on 
Education for Students with Disabilities 

A small group of CEC members, along with a group of members from the National Center for Learning Disabilities, has been invited to participate in a meeting with leaders from the White House Domestic Policy Council and the Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services.

CEC is pleased to open up this meeting, via conference call, to its membership.  The call will focus on President Obama's State of the Union Address and his Fiscal Year 2013 budget as they relate to education for students with disabilities.

CEC members may listen in via conference call, and may be able to submit a question about issues facing the field of special education during a question-and-answer session. Don't miss this opportunity to hear White House and U.S. Department of Education leaders discuss a series of ideas around special education, including graduation, teachers, and more.
